With the approval of gene therapies in the United States, pharmacists need to be prepared to integrate these new treatments into practice. This educational activity begins with a discussion of the potential uses of gene therapies, as well as the scientific principles involved in their development and clinical application. Key considerations in assessing an organization’s readiness to provide gene therapy to patients, including risk management and safe handling in clinical practice, are also explored.
